Today is National Life Insurance Day! What is that? We are going to tell you! National Life Insurance Day marks the anniversary of the first day that life insurance became available in the United States. The hope is that the observance of this day brings awareness to the benefits of life insurance.
The first life insurance company submitted a charter for the Corporation for Relief of Poor and Distressed Widows and Children of Presbyterian Ministers on May 2, 1759. Episcopalian priests also created a relief fund in 1769. This started the life insurance industry, which has continued to evolve.
What does life insurance do for you? Life insurance covers the life of the insured party. In the event of the parties’ passing, the payout is given to the beneficiary to cover whatever they choose. This can include funeral costs, day-to-day costs, education, and, in the case of business loss of income. Law firms have found that often, they should have coverage for their highest performers. This protects the firm from a tremendous financial loss. For everyone, life insurance coverage provides peace of mind for those left behind.
How can you celebrate this day? An excellent place to start is learning about different types of life insurance policies that may be available to you and your family. Take some time to speak with your family and assess your needs as a family. If you already have a life insurance policy, ensure it is still appropriate for your needs.
